Nicole Feist, MPA, LMSW, COMS
Nicole Feist, MPA, LMSW, COMS “Our profession’s commitment to diversity and advocacy is a large part of the reason I became a social worker”. As a Sophomore at the University of California at Santa Cruz, Nicole Feist noticed that there was no University group for lesbian students, so she started one. By the time her transfer year at UCSC was over, she had created a training model and taught other students to work as peer educators for CLUH (Changing, Learning About and Undermining Heterosexism), the speakers’ bureau she cofounded. CLUH was active at UCSC for the next two decades and spread to several other colleges. Currently Feist is an adjunct professor of social work at Adelphi University, and is a social worker for Deaf-blind clients.
